Community Presbyterian Church of DuPont

Dan MacDonald has been in full-time ministry his entire adult life. Dan's teen years were spent in Brazil where his father, Harry MacDonald, founded Young Life's "Alvo" ministry to young people. Dan graduated from Graded high school in Sao Paulo, Brazil and then attended Whitworth College in Spokane where he majored in Religion and Philosphy. He spent the year after college traveling Europe, living and studying at L'Abri Fellowship in Switzerland for several months under the tutelege of Dr. Francis Schaeffer.

Inspired by his growing love for the scriptures and the Lord, he decided to attend Denver Seminary, where he graduated with his Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Counseling in 1978.

Over the years his ministry experience has been varied. He was on staff with Young Life a total of 5 years, taught Bible at King's High School for 9 years where he was Head of the Bible Department, coached cross-country and wrestling, and was often voted by the students as "Teacher of the Year."

He taught adult education classes for North Seattle Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for several years before he was asked to join the staff at nearby Community Christian Fellowship in Edmonds, Washington. Dan served as both an Associate and Interim Senior Pastor at CCF, guiding the church through a rocky time in their history. He was then called as the Senior Pastor at Westside Alliance in Olympia for several years.

Dan went on to serve the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for seven years, teaching their Christian Life and Witness Classes all over the country. He obtained his ordination with the PCUSA and served as an ordained Chaplain for nine years in Franciscan Health's Palliative Care Outreach (a pre-Hospice program). He has since transferred his ordination to the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians denomination in 2017.

While he was a Chaplain, he also served in several ministry endeavors at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, such as teaching the weekly men's bible study and leading worship and small groups for Celebrate Recovery. Once Franciscan closed its pre-Hospice program due to lack of funding, Dan was invited to serve as Pastor of DuPont Community Presbyterian Church in 2010. He was thrilled to be in pastoral ministry again, in this wonderful community.

Dan's wife, Linda, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and works at Shepherd's Center Counseling, a clinic of Christian counselors in Gig Harbor. She has extensive experience mentoring young adults, leading workshops and small group Bible studies. They have four adult children between them and have seven grandchildren for whom Grandpa Dan enjoys pulling out his guitar to sing his array of children's songs.
